This is somehow WORSE than Greg Land. Somehow. I can’t place my finger on it, besides the overs sized, disgustingly out of proportion cleavage/tit job Emma has. The face is dog ugly…everything si just UGH fucking fire whoever approved this, AND the artist!
I’ve never liked what Emma wears. It’s always so revealing and she self proclaims that the best thing she does is be a teacher!! WTF what kind of school did she teach at before becoming an x-man!! Don’t get me started on the physics of it all and the way she flaunts herself. I’m quite glad the new x-men comics show her with less of a bust and dialled it down a bit because it was getting ridiculous.
She taught teenage mutants how to become Super Villains (see: The Massachusetts Institute). Before that she was the co-owner/fco-founder of a burlesque club for Rich Mutants (see: The Hellfire Club) that eventually turned into some kind of secret society (see: The Inner Circle) so that’s why she’s dressed like a fucking prostitute since the age of 16.
Frankly, I say the only people who should ever be allowed to draw her are Chris Clairmont (he DID create her after all), John Casady, Phil Noto and Leinil Yu. John actually made her have some class and style, her costume in most of the video games that have come out in the last decade (including Avengers Alliance) are based around his run on Astonishing X-Men with Joss Whedon. Which is really the best X-Title since before Bendis took over all the X-Men books. As much as i love him, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Jim Lee Emma Frost I liked. And I’m a HUGE Jim Lee fan. grew up reading his run on X-Men, it was the first comic I remember ever buying as a kid because of his awesome art, but i don’t I’ve ever seen him draw Emma.
Everyone else who draws her is bad at it. Especially Kaare Andrews & Greg Land. I can’t decide who’s worse among the two. But I think I’d have to go with Kaare Andrews in this case, because at least Land can draw faces (even if it IS the same Pam Anderson face for EVERY woman).
Seriously, why the fuck do Marvel hire these people if they can’t draw for shit? I’ve seen five year old’s with better artistic talent. Literal five year old’s.
First off, I understand that Emma is supposed to be sexual, that’s the character, you know? All her past and everything she’s been through, the core of her character is that she is the typical bad Dominatrix/Stripperific trying to go good trope. I’m not gonna get into her character specifically or if I understand or not why she is being a “strong female figure” to so many young mutants in the institute. That’s an issue for another day haha But, focusing on her image and personality, I get that you can’t simply forget that and make her be a good girl, that wouldn’t be Emma at all and I guess it would be an offence to writing her character. But still, she is supposed to have class, to be sophisticated she’s supposed to have seen the world and be a total and complete snob about it and what most pencilers do with that is make her their own version of Stripperella and I can’t understand that. Actually, I do understand it but it is fucking LAZY.
John Cassiday did a good job, as you say, and there’s also other artists like Granov, Bianchi, Bachalo or Finch that know how to find a perfect balance between the sexuality of Emma Frost and her sophistication. Sadly, for every Bachalo there’s one Andrews or fucking Greg Land.
So, having said that, let’s do a little update ‘cause I finally finished reading Xenogenesis;
"Ou, I’m just gonna stand here and talk to you about this radiation thing that is very important while standing like a Playboy playmate in the middle of a gig". Bonus: Storm’s boobs are bigger than her head.
"I need to give this people the knowledge of the local language so we can all communicate with the villagers. I know! I’ll transfer that by kissing them, even though I don’t really need to and there is no need related to my powers what so ever" -ok, this one is on Ellis and not only on Andrews, but still.
I don’t even know…
I can’t even… this is not even Cyclops, man! This is Logan. Plus, what’s going on with those hips? they are the size of a fucking watermelon.
Oh, the poor man’s dying, but at least he’s got Emma boobs to give him comfort.
And this is not distracting, like, at all…
EXTRA: Don’t even know how to catalogue this. The outfit, the hips, the boobs, the poses, i don’t know.
REMIX: Bulldog faces!
WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS BABY??

From the pages of Wolverine #16 (2011)
this is precious.
So I play avengers alliance and all I have to do is beat mystique. I cleared the final chapter and she never showed up. maybe I'm crazy, but do I have to complete all the hero deployments even for heroes I don't have? do I have to recruit and use a here just to get emma frost?
Hey! Yes, you have to complete EVERY fight AND deployment. If you don’t have the heroes, you are gonna have to buy them :s

Well I consider myself a hardcore Emma fan, so thanks for using a cut, that was polite, really.
Before answering your question, I’d like to ask about the “violates everyone’s fucking mind on a daily basis” part. When you say “everyone” you mean everyone, including her teammates? If that’s the case, did you have something specific on mind when saying this, or is it just the image you have of the character? I admit I haven’t been reading the current titles, but I do know what is happenning with my favorites at least - the only recent mind control she’s done was on Toad, who’s part of “Team Wolverine” and thus is pretty much her enemy. Other than that, she doesn’t have the habit of mind f*cking her allies.
I asked because I really don’t see the problem with it when it’s done on villains. I know it’s amoral and all, but ethics don’t translate well in comics.
Now, if by everyone you mean every enemy, I think there are two reasons: first, the X-men have experience with this kind of behavior: Wolverine, Storm during the 80s, Angel with his Archangel persona, Cyclops nowadays, Psylocke, Gambit, Bishop, Cable, etc. Of course they didn’t control their enemies’ mind, because that’s not a part of their powersets (mostly), but all of those have shown disregard to their enemies’ lives before. An argument could be made about one’s mind being sacred and all, but if that’s the case everyone would be pointing their fingers at Rogue during the whole 90s, since everytime she absorbs one’s powers she also absorbs their memories.
What I mean is, while I’m sure some X-Men don’t approve of her ways, a lot of the other X-Men are comfortable with them and use methods that are equally disrespectful to another living being. It would be hypocritical to call her on that.
The other reason, and I think it is a more important one, would be the current tone of the series. The X-Men have had two times when the stories were significantly darker than the standard superhero comics. The first one was during the 80s, and the second is the one we’re going through now, with this “endangered species” situation. During the 80s, Storm was basically what Cyclops is now in terms of decisions and what she was willing to do to protect her team, yet most of her teamates didn’t question her. During the 90s she went back to a more nurturing behavior, because the tone was different. We didn’t have characters who interacted with her on the 80s questioning her change, and we didn’t see the other characters criticizing her for her previous decisions. People overlooking Emma’s disregard for her opponents is a result of the path the series went. What is the point of Kitty calling Emma on it during a time Magneto, Namor and Colossus - with Juggernaut powers - are on the X-Men’s side? What is the point when both Cyclops and Wolverine, at different times, have sponsored a killing squad? Despite throwing a tantrum, I think what Beast did at the end of Second Coming was the most mature thing a hero that doesn’t agree with his team’s direction could do: leave the team.
And I know this probably won’t mean much, but if it helps, Marvel has thrown the “can’t trust her” card quite a few times, despite her being the only ex-villain other than Rogue to stay on the right side for good. It’s not exactly what you were searching for, but there’s a reason they doubted her, right?
Well, first, no need to thank. I already told you this but I wanna give people the chance to just ignore it if someone is question their favourite characters. You know, just for the sake of avoiding unnecessary drama I think haha I also wanna thank you for taking the time to answer. I really enjoy talking about these things and it’s not common that someone here on tumblr would take the time to answer so precisely about something like this. So, thanks ^^
Anyways, let’s see. First off, when I say that Emma violates everyone’s mind I mean exactly that. Not only the enemies. I mean, I think that in the heat of the battle or in a case of definitive disadvantage or even in an argument, she is entitled to use her powers to protect herself or her teammates. So, I don’t question the way she uses her powers in that sense, at all. That’s how she fights, that’s how she protects herself and everyone around her. Even if you consider that ones mind is sacred, when you engage in a fight that can destroy the world/human kind/something at all you pretty much are saying that everything is fair game to stop you, even mind control. I mean, we are talking about war, and with the kind of powers that are usually used in these types of wars, you have to understand that the use of mind control is not as horrible as it should be in real life. Also, of course, I don’t have a problem either when she uses her powers in her teammates when it comes to track them or to help them in fights and difficult situations. That’s it. So, having said that (it’s easier to establish the uses that I don’t mind first) the rest of the ways she decides to use her powers irritate me and sometimes even scare me, especially when she is celebrated for using those powers that way. Is my idea that someone’s mind is one of the most precious things someone could even have, their thoughts, their ideas, their privacy and their right to remain all those things exactly that, private, to themselves. And Emma violates that every time she feels like it. Not only reading what’s going on there –which is horrible enough- but also controlling it and shifting things sometimes to make you do things you don’t want to. Ok, sometimes I admit is for their own good –which I do not think it’s acceptable, but I can admit that it is kind of a grey area for some people- but most time is only for her own comfort. I’m not gonna get into how she used her powers to get under Cyclops’ skin or the whole ordeal with Phoenix, because that was ages ago and because I’d love to assume that she grew since then. Beside, even If I that whole ordeal do not settle well with me, I couldn’t care less about the relationship Emma and Scott have and also, Scott doesn’t seem to mind at all the way Emma uses her powers with him. But separating that, the rest scares and outrages me when no one seems to notice or care.
And these are only 3 examples I can think of, there’s a lot more. Lot. And a lot that are way more drastic than these ones, but I right now don’t have time to look for them :(
I hope I explained myself ^^U
