You know, it’s not like I’m gonna erase the things that I’ve seen here, or I’m gonna erase the things people do to each other, but I at least need to stop feeding the meter right now. I need to think about something else. And you know what, you don’t have to worry. It’s not gonna happen to you because… you’re surrounded by good people. And I need to go find mine.
I haven’t watched Blue Bloods in a while, so I was surprised to hear Jennifer Esposito was leaving. After reading more on what was happening and why, I was shocked to hear the reasoning. CBS initially informed Deadline with the news:
“Jennifer has informed us that she is only available to work on a very limited part-time schedule. As a result, she’s unable to perform the demands of her role and we regretfully had to put her character on a leave of absence.”
CBS gave no actual word on why Jennifer was leaving the series. That is until Esposito, who has been very vocal on her battle with Celiac Disease, decided to fire back at CBS via twitter:
“CBS PUT me on unpaid leave and has blocked me from working anywhere else after my doctor said you needed a reduced schedule due to Celiac. CBS didn’t listen to my doc and I collapsed on set. Which everyone saw! After a week off my doc said I could return to work but CBS implied that I was NOT truly ill and this was a scheme to get a raise! It’s been almost two months without bringing me back to work + keeping Me from working anywhere else!… Absolutely shameful behavior.”
For a network to actually call an illness fake truly is shameful. Along with basically blacklisting her from being able to work anywhere else, likely due to being under contractual obligations since she is a cast regular. I hope she takes legal action and parts ways once everything is through. I can’t see how she would be comfortable working for a network that refused to acknowledge her disease and then put her in limbo from working.
What do you guys think of this?
I AM SICK of how CBS decides to treat their workers when they don’t act the way they want them to act. It’s like what they did with Paget Brewster, only this is even more unnerving because of the present medical condition. This whole ordeal sickens me to no end. Fuck you CBS. And the moment Jennifer stops being on Blue Bloods, I’m done with the show. I love the show, love Donnie and Tom, but I’m done.
-Danny, you don’t have to do this.
-This is my fight, ok? I know, Jackie. I gotta do this.
-Go get this son of a bitch, ok?
